conversion of one's soul before death
"I caught him, with an unseen hook and an invisible line which is long enough to let him wander to the ends of the world, and still to bring him back with a twitch upon the thread."

the non-sacrifice of Protestants
I have always observed that (a majority of) Protestants have a mentality to "do as they please". They obtain this mentality of course, from the same source that teaches them that since Jesus died for our salvation, no work is necessary on their part. This source I speak of, is their false heretical religion.
They profess that nothing needs to be done (to get to Heaven) as long as one believes in Christ. All sins are easily forgiven, and Christ already took on this burden. They never believe in actually working for one's salvation.
This same sort of mentality seeps into their daily life via the non-observance in trying to stray away from the seven deadly sins (which ultimately befalls all of mankind). Hence, they fall easily into one (or more) of the seven deadly sins.

children without marriage
A co-worker of mine who was divorced and re-married with three kids just mentioned to another co-worker that she would be happy if her three daughters never married and just had kids. She said they may never marry, and she does not believe they need a man in their life. Oh boy!
As a background, this co-worker is Italian and a lapsed Catholic. Probably has not practised since she was a child. Naturally, one cannot imagine all the implications of these actions.
If she married the second time without an annulment or dispensation, these children would be bastards (literally!). Not to mention, they would not be able to be baptised, nor receive the sacraments. I believe neither she, nor her husband would be able to receive the sacraments either.
Of course, I don't think this matters to her. She has been quite anti-Catholic in her sentiments even though she claims she is a "nice" person. I don't wish to place judgement upon her, but her words and actions definitely express a defiance to all that is Catholic.
This latest thought of hers is even more absurd to my ears (or anyone with sufficient reason). Having children outside of wedlock is not only illegal (and wrong), it sets up those children for failure in life.

the dying of the Catholic Faith in India
Yesterday, my cousin attended a wedding in India of a famous Bollywood actress (who is supposedly a devout Roman Catholic). Well, this actress married a Hindu in a Hindu ceremony.
The same has happened with another cousin of mine, she recently married a Hindu and even had a Hindu ceremony.
In a politically correct world, of course, one cannot think like this. But God is not politically correct, He never was!
The more I see of these mixed marriages, the more despicable it is. Especially to see people who live like the Catholic Faith means nothing to them, when they don't realize what a treasure they have lost.

Remembering my dad on the 10th anniversary of his death
10 years ago this day, my father passed away. I don't think about dad a lot now, but do miss him. We had our moments, I did enjoy sharing things with him as he was generally a loving father. Thinking about it over the years after his death, we have many similar mannerisms. That is something others who knew my father would recognize in me. I guess that is a tribute to him. One of the things about my dad that is the most admirable is that he was simple at heart and down-to-earth. I do not find too many people in this world like him.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the Faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Film Review: Gran Torino
I saw the movie Gran Torino recently starrring Clint Eastwood. I think everyone should watch this film as it tackles a lot of issues that many folks would consider politically incorrect. His performance is excellent, and a fitting that it is his last acting role.
